A new association representing various UK streaming media industries emerged on Wednesday. The Association of Streaming Media Companies (ASMeC) aims to represent the interests of the digital content creation and distribution industries. ASMeC will focus on companies that distribute digital content (audio and visual) and are not licensed by UK regulator, Ofcom. The association has been formed by a group of streaming media companies working within the online radio sector, specifically LastFM, Totally Radio, Samurai FM and Radio Magnetic.

Talking of industry associations, a new association is being launched to represent the interests of the streaming media industries in the UK - ie those companies whose broadcast operations are completely online, rather than the traditional broadcasters who simulcast their output on the net. The association will go by the name of ASMeC - the Association Of Streaming Media Companies.

With the advent of internet and mobile technologies there has been an explosion of companies creating and distributing exciting content digitally through the use of streaming media technology. To meet the demand and represent the interests of this relatively new sector the association of streaming media companies (ASMeC) in the UK has been set up. ASMeC will represent companies that distribute digital content (audio & visual) that are not licensed by OFCOM.
